I'm not assuming that. I'm just saying, since my database has been
transferred via mysqldump many times, it's already potentially
broken, and so swapping to the backup script now doesn't necessarily
give me any guarantees because I'm not starting with a clean slate.

Or are you saying that mysqldump may possibly be safe now, but
may be made not so by later changes in mythtv? I could start
making script backups in addition to my dump ones. I guess that
can't hurt.

Another thing still bugging me, is why mysqldump doesn't create
exact copies of the database. I'd have thought that was what it
was intended to do.

Still, I'm not trying to dissuade others from using the script. The
previous post was just pointing out a situation where mysqldump,
were it safe, would have advantages.
