You might try to upgrade your kernel if you can, just on general principle.
I'm not aware of any specific fixes but generally things get better. I
don't know if you saw my notes in a previous post, but I got Gentoo working
well on this system. I haven't experienced any of the issues you've seen,
but I haven't tried LiveTV (haven't used it for MythTV very much in fact;
was working a long time getting the networking the way I wanted). Somehow
in my recent fiddling I lost my HDMI audio and had to switch to analog, but
the problem could be with my HDMI->composite converter. I haven't been
motivated to investigate. Here are my video-relevant package versions:
