Fact is, the vast majority of TV do not, and not the OP one as proven
by its result...

more to do that with hdmi, many streams are passed as LPCM, it's
unlikely any TV will contains an AC3/DTS encoder to be able to able to
output more than stereo
And being a stereo TV, they advertise as only receiving stereo and as
such only receive that from the A/V device connected to it.
So yes, there are plenty of reasons why a TV cannot pass > stereo
audio signal. And it has nothing to do with flag and copyright.
In fact, I don't see how they could do any differently under all circumstances
