the following is the report from the simulate suggestion:
daryl at daryl-A780L3C:~$ sudo apt-get --simulate --only-upgrade install grub
[sudo] password for daryl:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Skipping grub, it is not installed and only upgrades are requested.
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer
required:
libxcb-dri2-0 libxrandr-ltsq2
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
daryl at daryl-A780L3C:~$
This was executed on the 12.04 OS on the 250GB drive and I believe that
grub is on the Mythbuntu partition, it displays balck instead of purple. In
about 20 minutes I can boot the Terrabyte drive, which does have (purple)
grub and I will report the output from the command from there.
