Right, I am back with you now.

Yes, IIRC there have been some changes to the (ffmpeg or mythffmpeg?) command line parameters that is used by MythArchive but (without remembering the specifics) I didn't think the changes would have impacted what you are seeing now. I could be wrong however. I did a quick search but couldn't easily find what they were, maybe someone else will jump in.

Maybe use mediainfo on a file that works and a file that doesn't and see if you can pick any obvious differences? Otherwise in theory what you have outlined should work...
