Balanced I/O and Combination are both fine.  Balanced Free Space and 
Balanced Percent Free Space are the bad ones.

That won't help in this situation.  It would only make it choose one 
file system after the other.  You still need to either balance your 
auto-expirable recordings or manually delete recordings to make 
available space.  (You can delete shows from the Deleted recording group 
to completely remove them from disk, so that you can better see where 
space is available/needed.  You can also manually (outside of MythTV) 
move recording files from file system to file system (on the same host) 
without needing to change anything in MythTV.)
