I was wondering if I should explain the implications
when I wrote those terms, but I figured those that
knew knew... And I have explained the DTCP-IP
implications before on this list (in the archives).

The only good news (is there good news here?)
is that the FCC moves quickly only when compared
to glaciers(*), so that there could, in theory, be
sufficient lead time for alternatives to mature.

(*) However, just like glaciers, the progress is
real, and for those that are not paying attention
they will find themselves under the ice sheet
wondering what happened (the number of people
who are "suddenly" finding out about the FCC
ruling allow cable basic tier encryption is amusing).
