[mythtv-users] Controlling STB with Lirc

Aaron,

Does your STB have an input for an IR extension (so you could put the
STB out of sight and have an IR receiver placed in a convenient
location)?  My Comcast DTAs do and I used optocouplers in between two
3.5mm jacks (one per cable) to directly connect my blaster outputs to
them.  This eliminated all the fiddling with placement of the IR
transmitters and the DTA receiver windows.  I don't have the links
anymore, but Google should be able to help you find the pages that
covered how to build these adapter cables, if you can wield a solder
iron.  IIRC, someone was even offering to sell built ones and that may
still be an option.
