Hi;

I'd suggest starting the frontend with this:

     mythfrontend -v file,playback --logpath /tmp

then trying to start a single recording and exiting
the frontend. Then pastebin /tmp/mythfrontend.2013...
and put the link here.

I don't know if Mythbuntu uses mythfrontend as a wrapper,
so you may have to use mythfrontend.real.

It might also be helpful to know if only 'old' recordings
fail, but not those made after the upgrade.

My 2 cents. I haven't had the problem you describe, but I'm
not on Mythbuntu. And I have both combined and a remote FE.

There were changes to the record, recorded and oldrecorded
tables, but I know they didn't cause me any trouble (they
were done for consistancy of the programid and seriesid
columns across all tables.)

You could look in your logs to see if mythtv-setup ran
without errors when upgrading your DB. Probably should
have been my 1st idea.
