Honestly, because it can be.  The Raspberry Pi is where PCs were roughly 
15 years ago.  MythTV hasn't been optimized to run well on such low end 
systems, because there hasn't been a need to.  There has recently been 
some effort in improving MythTV's performance on low end systems like 
Atoms, but even those are a good 4-5x higher performance than an RPi, 
per core.
