You mean like:

Continue playback when embedded
If enabled, TV playback continues when the TV window is embedded in the 
upcoming program list or recorded list. The default is to pause the 
recorded show when embedded.

in TV Playback settings?  It defaults to disabled, but maybe you enabled it?
