For simple values, all the "premiums" on Comcast (HBO, Showtime,
Starz, etc.) can only be recorded off an STB via something like the
HD-PVR over component. This is not likely to change until the
content provider owners (Time Warner, CBS, etc.) see that such
a change can make them more money (its always about the money).
There are alternative providers that others have claimed do not
set copy protection on the "premiums" (WOW has been mentioned).
If you want a (real) challenge, contact HBO/CBS/etc directly
and try to get them to offer the same contract to Comcast (I am
presuming that WOW has a contract that allows them to send
the content without copy restrictions, and it is not a questions
of a technical implementation error by WOW).
