Reading the article, I like the work they've done on closed captioning
monitoring and making interaction with the EPG and stored content so
slick.

The SnapStream client/server-SQL-storage infrastructure is identical
to that used by MythTV for the past decade or more (except with the
added license costs).

"Video is typically ingested into the SnapStream DVRs directly from a
cable feed at 480p, 720p, or 1080i through component inputs"

Resulting in worse quality than capturing either DVB/ATSC or using a
CableCard solution in the US?

"SnapStream units start at $10,000 for a small business-oriented
system with four tuners and 465 hours of HD content"

Ouch!

"SnapStream appears to have their target market pretty well locked."

Any developers of large-scale MythTV installs want to put forwrd their
business case?

Nick
