The easy way to do this is probably to go ahead and upgrade the
database, then run find_orphans.py and get it to remove all the now
orphaned old program entries:

If you really only want to copy the channel data, then you need to be
confident using SQL.  I am not sure of what changes there have been in
the channel table and its associated tables since 0.24, but you would
need to convert the formats yourself.  So it is really not recommended
to do that when the database upgrade process will do it all
automatically.
