Genius.  Did this and was able to see that it wasn't able to access the 
DB, I needed to copy the contents of my config.xml file from my 
home-.mythtv directory to mythtv's home-.mythtv directory. Now it all 
works.  In fact I may of had this same problem via the 10.04 to 11.04 
upgrade and had this same conversation with Raymond Wagner on irc then.  
So I'm off to put this in my install notes so I don't need to ask again. 
This was definitely embarrassing.
