The simplest thing is to just run it as root.  Either login as root,
or su to root, or use sudo to run the command.  Alternatively you can
use the -u and -p options to set the username and password.  I can
never seem to remember my mysql password, so I usually just run it as
root.

If you're running X, and want to copy text from a terminal window into
a browser window, move the mouse cursor to the start of the text,
press and hold the left mouse button, move the cursor to the end of
the text, release the left mouse button, move the cursor to where you
want to paste the text, then press the middle mouse button or scroll
wheel.
