just got a 5S on Monday, and it works there too

no... the slash-o thing is a buggy theme issue. Maybe you have an old
cached one....
slash-o means there's no image in the notification (e.g. the path to
the image is incorrect). but with photo sharing, there's no path to an
image, the actual image is sent so you can't get a "slash-o"
