my purpose it to export the files (usually to a roku) so i transcode my
1080i hdpvr files to 720p using ffmpeg's yadif filter which gives me a
file without motion problems which i could not get by using handbrake.
the files play fine in myth video and roku. the cuts usually look pretty
good and are always time accurate. i compiled my own ffmpeg for this
