[mythtv-users] Help requested: How to get the correct artwork

I am using mythtv version 0.27, schedules direct, Comcast.

The artwork that displays in the play recordings screen is a great
feature. However some British originated programs do not display correctly.

The documentation
(http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Enhancing_Recordings_with_Metadata_Lookup)
describes how to set these up but it is rather lean on information on
how to correct wrong artwork that is already there, or missing artwork
on programs already recorded.

the program "Merlin" was displaying artwork for "Mr Merlin". After
playing around I fixed it by updating the recording rule with the
correct TVDB number, adding a season and episode number to the recording
rule, clicking the lookup and manually selecting coverart, fanart and
banner, and using SQL to update the inetref in all the existing episodes
in the recorded table. It seemed that all these steps were necessary
although some seem redundant. I fixed "The Paradise" the same way (The
Paradise was displaying no artwork at all).

Then I got to "Masterpiece Mystery" which is the title that includes
"Endeavour", "Inspector Lewis",
Silk" and others. No artwork was displayed. I added the inetref and
updated the "Endeavour" episode as described above, and the artwork
displayed correctly for that episode. Then I updated the recording rule
for "Silk" and updated the "Silk" episodes with the "Silk" inetref. Now
the "Endeavour" episode and well as the "Silk" episodes display artwork
for Silk, in spite of the inetref being correct in the recorded table
for each episode. The episodes for "Inspector Lewis" and "Foyles War"
still display no artwork.

I would think if the artwork was based on the inetref in the recorded
table that is would be correct for Silk and Endeavour, and if it was
based on the recording rule then all episodes would be displaying the
Silk artwork. So how does it match up? What is the correct way of
getting this done? Presumably updating the database table is not the
correct method.

It is possible for different episodes in the same "series" to have
different artwork, during my experiments I had observed some episodes of
Merlin displaying the Merlin artwork and some displaying the "Mr Merlin"
artwork.

If it uses the recording rule to determine artwork, what happens if the
recording rule is no longer present or has been changed? It is possible
some of my Merlin recordings were recorded from a different recording
rule than others.

Peter
