have you considered a laptop?

I have a pair of HP 6530b laptops as FE's and they are far superior to
my ionitx downstairs.
They can do VAAPI but not sure about de-interlacing (i just set them
to VAAPI and that was it).

They do lack HDMI output  which is a shame, but either the builtin LCD
(study FE) or VGA port&3.5mm audio jack (bedroom FE; 1080p) are fine.
