I've loaded up an RPi with XBMC with the MythTV interface and plunked
down the $5 to get the mpg decoder.  It seems to be able to play 1080i
out the HDMI connector (with sound).  There are still bugs (mostly in
error handling in the stream, and scanning back and forth), but
updates keep coming out and it has been improving.
