It made some amount of "press" back at the beginning
of April, but as a limited beta, it is not likely that many
have seen the details yet.

It seems likely that the largest market for transcoding is
the content providers that would (presumably) run Linux,
and Intel would like to capture some of that market.
Officially making the Media SDK available on Linux was
a necessary (and potentially for F/LOSS a positive) step.
