Mount the file system at /media/raid5 and create a recordings directory
/media/raid5/recordings

I believe that is what I have done! I am now confused :(

I have this line in /etc/fstab:

/dev/md0 /media/raid5/ ext4 defaults,noatime,nobootwait 0 0
