Bummer, that is exactly what I had in mind as well.  I was going to go
Zotac ID41 and put everything on the NAS to get rid of a big box machine.
 Also the QNAP can run XBMC on it with HDMI out for viewing recordings
(another free frontend so to speak).

So what we are saying is the storage needs to be in a dedicated backend
machine, not NAS?
