I could be wrong, but I had thought that limitation was only for SBS and related to the menus.

However, the more reading I do, the more it seems that it isn't possible to play blu-ray mvc 3D in linux at all - even using the cpu. 

As an alternative does anyone know if it would be possible to play them using Stereoscopic Player in a windows vm?  I know PowerDVD will not run in a vm.
