As for losing your bookmark, why not uncheck the "Clear bookmark on playback" setting? Then if the problem does reoccur, you'll still have the bookmark. You can always reposition the bookmark to the beginning using this sequence: pause, 0, rewind (e.g. <), esc. Or you can choose Menu, "Play from ...", "Play from beginning" if you forget those steps.
