using a foxconn nettop with amd e-450 w/ 1.66 dual processor. On nightly
lubuntu saucy image, with drm next 3.10 kernel, mesa 9.2 built from git,
and myth 0.25 fixes built from source. I get fairly decent results with
vdpau. With a hdhomerun grabbing only 1080i and 720p channels. I set a
profile to avoid vdpau on the 720p and use it on the 1080i. I had to set
the vdpaubuffers a little higher in vdpau and use deinterlacing to
advanced 1x. The result on a 40 inch samsung is not perfect but
acceptable for most shows. the vdapu cannot do the 720p very well but
the standard plays it fine. for h264, only 1080 24 fps works, higher
framerates are not smooth.

I suspect with a stronger processor this might work. In vdpau the
processor use drops to around 25 per cent, down from near 70 per cent in
standard.

I think they still have a bit to go with this, but for a second room
frontend this an inexpensive solution. i paid 119 for the nettop on sale
from newegg and 12 dollars for memory stick.

I looked at mplayer but not extensively. It seemed to play a 1080p 24
fps movie in vdpau without issues.
