Could you clarify your setup? I'm interested because I have an almost identical
arrangement (so I believe).

Is your backend on one subnet and your frontend on another? Or are both on one
subnet and you attempting to use some other gadget for access? On another
subnet, or perhaps from the WAN?

My own setup: backend on one subnet, frontend currently on same. I wish to move
the frontend to another subnet that has a wireless access point (AP). The
backend subnet is "trusted", the AP subnet is "untrusted". The untrusted subnet
will be shared with Android gadgets and visitors' laptops, that kind of thing,
so I want to use OpenVPN from frontend to backend.
