[mythtv-users] HLS recorder and HTTP proxy

Will the HLS recorder work through/with a proxy assuming an appropriate 
http_proxy environment variable is set?  What makes me ask is that I 
have my proxy set appropriately but the channel scan portion of 
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:Setting_up_HTTP_Live_Streaming_Recorder 
encounters

Connection refused (or timed out) (1): url: 
'http://www.avenard.org/files/media/playlist-hls.m3u'

and my firewall reports that mythtv-setup tried to connect directly.

mythavtest doesn't seem to be using the proxy either.
