After another couple of weeks of reported bilateral 'it's not us/it's 
them' responses and WMC-users' frustration on the ukfree.tv website I 
emailed viewerservices at itv.com with a brief history and these stream 
analyses.

I got the same sort of response but with an assurance that the 
'infrastructure team' would be informed.  That evening WMC users 
reported that their pictures had come back. My logs are back to their 
original form, too.

This seems to have been just a local misconfiguration at the time of 
another major but unrelated change.  I had wondered if it was a 
within-spec local test of some new service, but it doesn't look like 
that now.

..and somehow I doubt that many of the WMC users will see the light :-)
