It's nice of you to ask the community, but I don't think it was really
necessary; you are the developers, if 'we' have a problem with how you run
the project 'we' can always fork your code.  However I am fairly confident
that few people would be upset by this change, especially if it results in
a significant improvement in the project going forward.
