I was just contacted off list by someone who was experiencing the same
problem.  He was using 3.7.1.  After reverting his kernel to 3.6.11
all problems went away.  The issue for him was also limited to  DVD's
in Mythtv.

No idea why!  I'm curios to see if the 3.8 kernel will have the same problem.
