Have you checked the mythbackend.log for errors during playback?  I have 
had problems before with BBC and the writing of errors to the log file 
actually was causing the stutter as the disk was being thrashed?

Also it might be something to do with audio as the BBC HD use AAC - the 
others use AC3/Dolby - so if there is a problem decoding audio you would 
only see it on the BBC, and it could cause a stutter.

What device do you use for audio out?
