Thanks Richard.

I'll give the patch a try though I don't think it will solve this
issue as it's not the start of the movie but rather all through it.  I
have seen some stuttering in the start menus on many DVD's so I'll
still give this patch a go.

Later today I'll run with -v playback and --loglevel=debut and report back.
