One of the advantages of being in a market that adopted digital TV a little
"late" I guess is that we didn't get stuck with mpeg2 - Terrestrial
Freeview in NZ started on h.264 so we don't have the problem of a lot of
people stuck with DVB-T boxes that support only mpeg2. Now practically
every TV you buy has support for DVB-T and h.264 built in, as well as the
STBs for people who bought before it all rolled out.

But I do see the problem with rolling out a change in technology in an
established market.

They are turning off analogue here in the next year or so, the advertising
is on TV, newspapers, the back of buses, billboards...

Unfortunately for us non-lovers of Rupert M, there is still a large
perception that SkyTV is the only alternative :( Interesting times ahead,
although I have my digital sorted thanks!
