Depends upon the recording rule, how the recording was deleted, and if your
using the "watched recordings" feature.
When you set/edit the recording rule you can specify if it is to record
duplicates or not, and how it is to determine if the episode is a duplicate.
You can also specify that any show that is auto-expired, re-record if it
hadn't been flagged as watched.
Finally, when you delete a show, you have the option to tell it to delete
and rerecord.

This looks like it did check to determine if it was a duplicate... however
your recording rule told it to record anyway. Most likely you need to
adjust your recording rule.

Never say never... but yes, i suspect that it's your recording rule.
