I'm an hour away from Detroit and Comcast shut us down this
month too.
Something to know is that I was unable to scan for channels in
MythTV with mine. I had to ask for the channels in Schedules
Direct before I could receive in MythTV.
Also, I have a Windows 7 PC and was able to use Windows Media
Center to scan for channels on the Cable Card. That got the
installer and his supervisor out of my house.
The HDHomeRun Prime can be shared between MythTV and Windows
Media Center. If both are fighting for the same tuner on the
HDHomeRun Prime, you can change the tuner priorities on MythTV
so that it starts with tuner3, then tuner2, then tuner1. I
rarely use the WMC PC anymore, as MythTV is so much better!
My choices often consume more than the three tuners available in
the HDHomeRun Prime, but I also have two Hauppauge HVR-2250 and
an outside antenna, giving seven tuners altogether. The quality
of the OTA recordings seems much better to me than the Comcast
recordings, so the only shows I record on the HDHomeRun Prime
are cable-only. And I don't have those damn Comcast commercials
in my OTA recordings.
My HDHomeRun Prime has a good page [mine is 192.168.100.1] for
seeing its configuration and status.
