OK, neither of those options work, they appear to do identical things.
First of all a backend install at the same time.
Once the install is done, I run the frontend and asked to configure
where the backend is, I give it the details it asks for and the frontend
loads.
Only the real backend has not been contacted at all according to its
logs, and there is no content at all within the frontend.
I cannot supply you with a frontend log, I can find no such file.
running "locate --regex 'mythfrontend.log'" produces no results.
Any other suggestions?
