A post yesterday in the commits list reminded me.  The language 
preferences are set in frontend > Setup > Appearance > Localization.  I 
have EN_GB, English, Undetermined, and that may be what you want.  I 
usually remove unwanted streams and edit before running MythArchive.

You can view the algorithm that is used in
/usr/share/mythtv/mytharchive/scripts/mythburn.py
at line 4047 ( #get audioID's)
