I had similar happen intermittently a while back. It was cured by adding
"-geometry 1920x1080" to the mythfrontend command. I'm pretty sure I've
read on here that that couldn't possibly work because it is effectively
the same as putting the value in setup -> appearance. But, in any case,
it works for me.
