see Appendix B (& C) driver readme:

I recent unpinned 295 & upgraded to 304..
I use custom modelines & 1 display without EDID (DDC).

The upgrade caused both connected monitors to have no EDID & run at
800x600.

The changes (that I) required in xorg.conf were w.r.t. mode validation
options & their scope.

Option "UseEDID" "false"
- this is now global & not applied only to the section it is placed.
- this option is not recommended.

There are more finely controlled mode validation keywords..& these
keywords accept a extra prefix qualifier (port).

Option "ModeValidation" "DFP-0: NoMaxPClkCheck; CRT-1: NoVesaModes"

I added a prefix qualifier to option "UseEDID" "CRT-0: false" without
any reported error. It is possble this is ignored.
I have other Option "ModeValidation" keywords.

Other useful keywords:
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT"

blm.
