So I tried this on my video card that produces sound
v4l2-ctl --device=/dev/video0 --set-ctrl volume=65535
and the volume increase quite a bit so I set it
v4l2-ctl --device=/dev/video0 --set-ctrl volume=50000
and it reduse the volume.
I tried the same commands on /dev/video1 and nothing changed
I did find that
 v4l2-ctl --device=/dev/video1 -l
produce many lines but the line for volume:
 volume (int)    : min=0 max=65535 step=655 default=60928 value=62225 flags=slider
Any other suggestions?

There is a utility called v4l2-ctl that you can use to adjust audio volume for analog. I had to do this for the analog side of my Hauppauge HVR-2250.
If your card is indeed video1 instead of video0, then the next thing is to find out the range you can give it to do set-ctrl.  I am not sure of the syntax for finding the settings, but the man page for v4l2-ctl will show you how to find the numeric range to use.  For my HVR-2250, the range was -50 to +50 I believe. I set my volume to -5 with good results. Check to see what the range is for yours before using -5.
Regards
