Wait a minute... you have a TV with a DVI input, and you also have a PC with a 
DVI output. Am I missing something here? Why not just use a DVI-DVI cable?

Or are your two DVIs totally incompatible? One analog, say, and the other 
digital? Perhaps your problem is that the TV input is only analog, in which case 
it will never work with an HDMI cable, no matter what adapters you put on each end.
