My slave backend is my original mythtv box and is a 32-bit system. Whatever it is, it makes MythTV unreliable for my setup, which is admittedly relatively old (all analog), but I refuse to pay more monthly fees for the digital one. I know its inevitible, but I can delay as long as possible ;-)

Whatever the problem, I doubt that it is a driver problem. I am still running 
MythTV 0.21, but my kernel and drivers are 3.4-rc1. My PVR500 shows no problems.
