1.5.7.0 (hauppauge's version #) is the last firmware you can use on that 
box without running into the chroma issues (which IIRC, those patches 
didn't get into the kernel till 3.3.5?).

It works virtually flawlessly me on 0.24, as for your success with 0.25 
just take a look at the list traffic, YMMV.
