As others have said, one per disk.

What you don't want to do is create multiple filesystems on one disk 
and use them separately. Doing that guarantees large head movements 
during seeks - probably larger on average than using one filesystem.

Eg, if you divide a disk into 4, and have four recordings going, then 
you are guaranteed to have to seek to multiple places in the first 
quarter, multiple places in the second quarter, multiple places in 
the third quarter, and multiple places in the last quarter - each 
second. Thus you will **always** have seeks that span over half the 
disk.
With a single filesystem, then you are likely to have large seek 
distances, but not guaranteed.
