At the time, I grabbed a copy of the mythrecipe.  It was on a machine
that no longer runs mythtv, so I'll have to go hunt around to see if I
still have a tar ball.  However, my recollection was that it was still
**VERY** rough and not ready for prime time.  I don't think it would
increase the WAF much to use it.
