Thanks.  In the end I download the tarball that 
https://github.com/MythTV/mythweb/tarball/fixes/0.25 spits out,
which is called MythTV-mythweb-v026-pre-..something..something.. and 
put it in /usr/portage/distfiles, renamed as the new ebuild
expects it (mythweb-0.25_p20120515.tar.gz).

Running ebuild manifest then works, but haven't tried emerging it yet!
