You're probably thinking of Knoppmyth  or Mythbuntu.  Those are third
party projects which package the MythTV application with an operating
system.  MythTV itself has always shipped as an application.

You might want to try one of those.  There's also Mythdora, if you
prefer rpm based distributions.
