Ok, so I have definitely enabled EIT for my HDHomeRun tuners in mythtv-setup now. I can now see that after a short while, my switches indicate that the HDHomeRun is being used by the MythTV server and the logs report that EIT scanning has been started.
However, they seem to be filled with messages like:

...and I am seeing no EPG data for the channels which do not have XMLTV listings. I don't have any problems watching the channels which had no EPG data.
I have just tried performing a full scan in mythtv-setup, however I am unable to, as mythtv-setup closes suddenly, then automatically starts the backend back up. Has anyone got any ideas why this may be happening?
Furthermore, with EIT now enabled, the HDHomeRun seems to be constantly active and my switches are constantly flickering away between the HDHR and MythBackend. This is actually one of the reasons why I moved to XMLTV, so that my HDHomeRun was not constantly scanning EIT data. Is there any way to avoid this?
Many thanks,
Joe
